Tips to Renovate Your Home on a Budget

by Naomi Shaw 05 Mar 2021 0 Comments

A house becomes a home when you put your personal touch on the space to make it the ideal safe space you want, but creating such a home is rarely easy, quick, or free. Everyone wants to make their home as lovely as possible and include all the modern features magazines love to show off, but homes are one of the most expensive projects a single person can undertake. If you are renovating your home, you want your money to go as far as possible without sacrificing quality, speed, or comfort. Every person has a balance between their budget and their dream home. However, there are more options than not renovating and spending all your money on renovations. There are many ways to update your home without breaking the bank if you are smart with your money, project selection, and materials. You can renovate your bathroom without buying the most expensive materials and highest labor quote, but it may take some compromises and DIY work to get it done. Here are some tips, tricks, and suggestions to renovate your home on a budget without sacrificing your goals or sinking all your money into a single project that is not worth the investment.

Budgeting Comes First

Budgeting Comes First

Before you commit to any renovations or materials, you must establish a budget for the entire renovations and each renovation project. There is no sense in updating your home if you are going to go broke from the projects. Take a serious look at your finances and set a hard line for how much you are willing to spend safely. Everyone deserves a nice house, but do not ruin your financial security by chasing a fresh home design. If you have your heart set on specific renovation elements, try to calculate how much those details will cost so you can appropriately save before any work starts. Once the work starts, you are committed to paying for materials and labor, so ensure you are ready with your plan and expected results before signing or committing to anything.

Don't Underestimate The Power Of Fresh Color

When many people picture home renovations, they envision demolition, knocking out walls, tearing up old carpet, stripping wallpaper, or tiling, but not all home renovations need to be drastic changes or time-consuming projects. Stripping out an ugly fireplace front and replacing it with a more modern mantle and housing is a large impact project that also takes a lot of hard work, time, and money. Large impact projects are often the most alluring home renovations, but if you don't want to turn your home into a construction site, you should look into the power of fresh color. Rather than making massive structural changes, you can refresh a whole space with a new color. Use disperse dyes to add new life to bland pillow covers and tie into a new room theme. Paint the walls a new color to change how the room feels. Use color theory and proven science to place colors in the best spot to achieve your goals. Small rooms needn't feel like small dungeon rooms with the right color coordination and design changes.

Don't Forget Necessities Even If They Are Not As Fun

Many people use home renovations to add the fun, pretty, or exciting elements they have always missed in their home, but also neglect the necessary aspects of a home. Installing a fresh shower is far more fun than updating your home office space, but one is more necessary than the other. If your shower works fine but has an outdated design while your office needs repairs, no windows, and is undecorated, it is likely a better idea to update your office. As millions of people will continue working from home over the next year, now is the best time to update your office, so you don't dread spending time in that room. Take care of the renovations that will improve the quality of your daily life before you splurge on upgrades that might be nice but are less necessary.

Renovating your home can and should be a fun undertaking, but there are ways to do it on a budget so that you can responsibly improve your home without jeopardizing your financial health. Set a budget you are comfortable with and stick to it, do not underestimate the power of color to revamp a space, and focus on areas of your home that need work before the areas you simply want to update.

Our general return policy applies to all eligible products except certain dresses listed below. You may return product(s) within 7 days for either a store credit or you may make an exchange. We do not issue refunds. A store credit will be issued minus a 15% restocking fee will be applied to all returns/exchanges. We do not profit from this restocking fee since our suppliers charge us this fee. An RMA must be submitted for approval in order to return an item. Shipping fees, if any, which were applied at purchase are not refunded. Once the item is received, an email will be sent to you with a store credit code that does not expire or an exchange will be processed.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO RETURN AN ITEM?

We offer a 7-day return window for most purchases (exclusions listed below).

The return window begins when your package is marked "Delivered" by the tracking system. From that time, you have 7 days (including weekends and holidays) to make a return/exchange request. You will be unable to submit a return/exchange request after that 7-day period.

ABOUT RE:DO RETURNS

  • Customers now have the option to pay $1.98 at the time of purchase to later qualify for free returns on that order.
  • Didn’t add and checkout with Re:Do? You will still return like normal and purchase a label through them with discounted shipping rates saving you time and money!

WHAT ITEMS ARE EXCLUDED FROM RETURNS AND EXCHANGES?

The following items are not eligible for a return or exchange:

  • Clearance items (will be clearly marked "Clearance" or have the price that does not end in $xx.99 or $xx.98)
  • Wedding gowns
  • Quinceanera dresses
  • Cinderella Divine Black Label
  • Tiaras
  • Designer dresses by Andrea & Leo Couture and DeKlaire Bridal

ARE THERE ANY FEES FOR RETURNING AN ELIGIBLE ITEM?

The following fees are as follows:

  • If shipping was complimentary at checkout, original freight/handling cost will be deducted.
  • Customer is responsible for shipping costs on return/exchanged items if RE:DO was not added to your order at checkout.
  • A 15% restocking fee for all returns will be accessed.
  • Packages that are denied and "returned to sender" or refused will be subject to a 50% restocking fee.
  • Please note that any amount paid for shipping is non-refundable.

WHAT IF I WANT TO MAKE AN EXCHANGE?

If you would like to make an exchange for a different size or dress, simply submit an RMA by clicking here . Once approved, you will receive an email with instructions. The exchange process can take 7-12 days. Once the item has been received and approved, you will receive an email with a code that you can use to apply on our website to make an exchange. You will go through the checkout process online.

If time is of the essence, place a new order for the item you need, then contact us by email informing us of this decision. If for some reason the item that you ordered is not available, it will not constitute a refund. In such a case, a store credit will be issued once the original dress has been returned.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR RETURNED ITEMS?

  • Returns are carefully inspected; all original tags must be in place and the product must not show any signs of wear or damage.
  • Items found with snags, worn, washed, altered, ripped, stained, grease marks, pet hair, pen marks, perfume, deodorant stains, smoke odor and/or missing tags will be returned immediately at the customer's expense.
